For example, this piece expands the range of rare single grain whiskies, and its predecessor can be considered Greenore, which was published by the Teeling family, still under the auspices of the Cooley distillery. We also reveal that this piece was also distilled in Cooley's column stills, and then, quite unusually (especially in Ireland), it was fully matured in a California wine barrel in which cabernet sauvignon rested before. This is where it got its attractive dark copper color and spicy-fruity flavors. Its smooth, balanced sweet aromas are mainly due to the raw material of corn and the column cauldron. Like other Teeling whiskeys, Single Grain is not cold-filtered, for the sake of the most natural effect.
In the last two years, Teeling whiskeys have already won more than 70 awards in prestigious competitions. In 2015, for example, they won a total of 9 gold medals in 3 competitions (IWSC-International Wine&Spiritis Competition, Spirit's Masters Awards, San Francisco World Spirits Competition), including Single Grain 2 gold and one silver.
