This whiskey is released by an independent Irish company, the Teeling Whiskey Company, who, by the way, started building their own distillery in 2014. This will make it the first newly opened distillery in Dublin in 125 years, thus reviving the long-standing Dublin whiskey brewing. The name Teeling is not new in the Irish whiskey industry, as the family has been brewing whiskey since 1782. And now they are starting again, because the young Teeling generation, Jack and Stephen, after reviving the brand, have now opened their own brewery in the spring of 2015 (see the video below).

Teeling Small Batch - as the name suggests - is a blend of blended whiskey, grain whiskey and malt whiskey released in small batches. It is definitely aged in first-fill bourbon barrels, and then, interestingly, it is finished in rum barrels, thereby lending the drink extra spiciness.

Barrel type: Bourbon/rum
Smell: Cut grass and orange blossom, allspice, traces of vanilla, apple pie and blackberry.
Taste: Spicy, with the rich flavors of rose petal jelly and lemon curd. Creamy vanilla, traces of dried herbs and cinnamon.
Finish: Floral, herbal aftertaste. Caramel also makes an appearance.
