A classic coffee experience - almost any time during the day, this was the goal. The blend contains 50% decaffeinated coffee, which was very challenging, as it was set as an important aspect: the end result should go in the balanced, pleasantly acidic, but definitely nutty, milk chocolate direction.
When creating the blend, they wanted to benefit those who would like to drink several cups of coffee a day - but caffeine limits their options. Their goal was to create a 50% caffeine-free coffee for the elderly, grandparents, parents, those sensitive to caffeine, or just for those who drink a lot of coffee at work, which offers the classic coffee experience in terms of taste.
How did the idea come about?
By accident at the end of a tiring day. Indeed, they searched for a very long time for the already roasted 5 kg of decaffeinated coffee, which unfortunately was already resting under 5 kg of Classic Line Brazil. The coffee was stirred and tasted: and the coffee was good. A group of irodists came forward as a test audience (thanks, Miki!), who experienced extremely positively that they can drink 5-6 cups of coffee a day with a calm heart.
During creation, we mixed their Classic Line Brazil batch, which you already know, with the caffeine-free, Decaf de Cana batch of the specialty batches in a half-and-half ratio. During the tests, we definitely wanted to keep the ratio, thereby ensuring that the coffee can be consumed multiple times. However, the washed Colombian batch initially pushed the result in a very acidic direction, so in the end it was decided to create a new roasting profile for the decaffeinated coffee that goes into the blend, which blends even more pleasantly with their Brazilian coffee.
