The Caffarel company was born in 1826, when chocolate was still considered an exotic specialty in Europe; only a few people had heard of it and even fewer were privileged enough to taste it.
In 1826, Paul Caffarel opened his chocolate laboratory in Turin, thanks to which the northern Italian city became one of the chocolate capitals of the world.
Gianduiotto, Caffarel's most unique invention, is also the most memorable specialty in the world of chocolate, as it combined cocoa with roasted Piedmontese hazelnuts, famous for their outstanding quality, in a dessert in an epoch-making way.
