Our thyme syrup, recognised as a medicinal product, is a great way to boost the immune system, prevent respiratory illnesses and, if the illness has already appeared, it is also great for clearing up phlegm in the airways, soothing coughs, helping with nasal congestion and relieving cold symptoms.
Thyme has been used by mankind for thousands of years - both in medicine and in gastronomy. Thyme has antibacterial and antiviral properties. It is one of the most wonderful herbs for treating respiratory diseases, it also stimulates digestion and has a diaphoretic effect.
The two essential oils of thyme that give it its medicinal properties are thymol and carvacrol. These give it its pleasant aroma and strong antiseptic properties, which can stop the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the body.

For prevention, if the aim is to strengthen the immune system: 1 teaspoon per day is the recommended dose. In case of illness, 3 x 1 tablespoonfuls per day are recommended.
Thyme syrup is not only good for the body, it is also delicious, so it can be consumed on its own, dissolved in tea or water, and for adults it is also recommended to add it to a neutral-flavoured brandy (the recommended dilution ratio is 1 part syrup to 1 part brandy).
Most of the thyme preparations currently marketed in Hungary contain an alcoholic extract of thyme, which is not recommended for children, but this thyme syrup can be given to children over 2 years of age.
