Cognac Ferrand has long been at home in the Caribbean, selling casks to distillers that previously contained cognac. The head of the company, Alexandre Gabriel, thus had the opportunity to taste rare and old rums that either belonged to the cellar masters' own stock, or were used to develop the character and flavor of standard rums. This is how Ferrand decided to bottle and release rare vintage rums. And this is how the Plantation rum brand was born, which today publishes several types of vintage rum as well as mixed rum. Each release perfectly showcases the terroir of its area of origin.

Plantation rums go through a unique, double aging process. In the process, they are first aged at the place of production, usually in young bourbon barrels, and then transferred to small barrels at the Ferrand estate in France, where the distillates are left to rest. This 18-19. Alexandre Gabriel revived an aging technique common in the 19th century. The humid, warm climate lays the foundation for the rich, juicy aromas, and post-maturation in French barrels gives these rums elegance, sophistication, and roundness.

Plantation XO 20th Anniversary is made from Barbadian rums aged between 12 and 20 years. After the basic aging in Barbados (8-10 years), it was rested for another 2-10 years in France, in several different barrels (newly made white oak, bourbon and Ferrand cognac). Blending also takes place at Ferrand's central estate (Château de Bonbonnet), the result is a very round and creamy rum with a wonderful mahogany color.
