A bit of fun: in 1901, when the steel workers were working on rebuilding Glasgow Central Station, they drank too much beer to quench their thirst. So a local soft drink manufacturer, AG Barr, created a tonic-like drink containing caffeine and sugar for the workers to help them get through a hard day's work. It was then that 'Iron Brew' was born and its long history began. It is made based on a secret recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation by the Barr family.
