Pail of Organic Oregano - crumbled Oregano, a well-known spice in Mediterranean cuisine, has been used for at least 300-400 years. In the early 20th century, botanical books described oregano as a medicinal plant. Nowadays, oregano has become a favourite spice in Italian, Spanish and Greek cuisine, but not only in the Mediterranean basin.
The first thing most of us think of when we think of oregano is pizza, but its culinary uses are wide-ranging. It goes well with grilled and roasted meats (e.g. lamb), vegetables, soups and is also popular in tomato dishes, sauces, gravies and pâtés.
