The wine has a pale lemon colour and a citrus nose. The acidity is firm and elegant, with a strong acidity and a long, full mineral finish. The variety itself is found only and exclusively in the Badacsony wine region and at two wineries in the Balaton highlands. The variety is grown on about 50 hectares. It grows sparsely, hence the nickname "gentleman's grape".
While other grape varieties are self-pollinating and fertilize well, the blue-tongued grape requires a pollinator, which in the case of our vine is the rose stone. The Rosewood is a cross between the Buda green and the blue-tongued grape, created by the Badacsony Research Institute. The bluestem thrives only on volcanic, basaltic soils. It is characterised by a high mineral content, especially potassium and calcium, which are more abundant. Never look for intense fruitiness in a bluetongue, but for elegance, harmony and a long mineral finish.
We recommend it with Balaton tartare, fresh goat cheese, grilled fish.
Presentation of the winery:
"Our winery is located in the Badacsony Wine Region at the foot of the Szent György Hill. We have 7 hectares of vineyards, including our own and rented areas. Our varieties are: italian Riesling, grey friend, blue tongue, muscatel, cabernet sauvignon.
Our vineyards are located on small plots on the south-south-west side of the St. George hill. The main aim of our family winery is to preserve and bottle the primary flavour and aroma of the grape as a fruit.
Our wines are made from basaltic stony soils which add mineral flavours to the wine, enriching its enjoyment."
