One of the main breeds of Ménes, many believe that this made the wine region famous. Red wine harvested with significant yield limitation (5 tons / ha), spontaneously fermented and aged in ace barrels. Even from its color, it can be seen that this kadarka is a fuller, deeper-toned face. Rich aromas, spices, flowers and fruity aromas of berries, long, rich wine.Dry red wine.
Alcohol: 13%.
Cadarca has a long history in our region and gave to Minis international reputation in the 18th century. The variety in this area have seen highs and lows, and it was almost missing when our winery begins its activity. One of our primary mission is to revive Cadarca and make it shine again.
Its colour is ruby with a deeper tone than usual average Cadarca. Its taste and smell is a vibrant mix of spicy, wildflower and fruity flavours. Cadarca is a prolific variety with naturally high yields, but we can obtain a high quality by setting significant yield-limits (we harvest around 5 tons/ha). This cadarca undergo a natural fermentation followed by a maturation period in large oak barrels.
The new label
From now on our Vineyard Selection wines bear the name KOLNA. We have chosen this name to highlight the uniqueness and distinguishing features of the place of production. They were an integral part of local identity, wine culture, community life and thus the heritage of the wine region. They belonged to Minis like Cadarca, or the deep purple reds, as well as the volcanic soil, the special microclimate marked by the Mures River Valley and the surrounding mountains. The appearance, disappearance, size and functions of the kolnas tell us about the history of Minis, the ethnic diversity of the region, about the local wine culture.
The word "Kolna" has Serbian origin and it was and still is used exclusively in our region. Although the buildings bearing this name have almost completely disappeared over time, the term is still used in the local community. Kolna is just as unique as the wines born here.
