A true icon in Rioja winemaking, LAN Crianza perfectly combines tradition and innovation. A rich and balanced red wine, which owes its unique character to the aging process with a combination of French and American oak.
LAN Crianza is made from 93% Tempranillo, 5% Garnacha and 2% Mazuelo grapes, which come from 10-20-year-old vines in the famous Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa subregions. The limestone-clay soil of the sloping areas provides excellent drainage and sunlight, which contributes to the richness of the grapes. The process of making the wine is traditional: berry picking, crushing, then fermentation in steel tanks, followed by 15 days of maceration for optimal extraction of color and taste.
What really sets LAN Crianza apart is the aging process. The wine is aged for 14 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels, and then aged for another 9 months in the bottle before being released on the market, so that the wine is perfectly rounded.
Bright red fruits such as strawberries and raspberries greet you in the aroma, complemented by delicate notes of peach. The vanilla, caramel and a touch of cinnamon from the aging make it really special. The taste is balanced and silky, with a long-lasting, satisfying finish.
The winery: Since its foundation in 1972, Bodegas LAN has played a pioneering role in Rioja winemaking. The winery is located in the heart of the region and is known for its innovative use of oak and its commitment to expressing the unique qualities of the area. LAN is famous for the use of hybrid oak barrels, which is an excellent example of the combination of tradition and modern techniques, so that the character of the grape varieties and the expertise of the winemaker appear in the wines.
