The Jakab Winery’s 2023 Kéknyelű comes from the basalt-rich slopes of Badacsony Hill. This pale straw-colored, vibrant white wine opens with restrained aromas of unripe pear, crisp white peach, and lemon peel, softened by floral hints of peach blossom and jasmine. On the palate, citrus and sweet apple dominate, followed by peach skin and a distinctive mineral character. The finish is long and complex, marked by salt, candle wax, crushed stone, and flint. Gentle whole-cluster pressing, cool fermentation, and aging in breathable tanks highlight the varietal’s purity and the volcanic terroir. Bottled in July 2024 after a rainy yet warm vintage, this wine is a true expression of Badacsony’s uniqueness.
