The white riolite tufa bedrock of the Betsek vineyard and the large amount of clay minerals it contains create a very distinctive fruity undertone to the wines made here, framed by a subtle but all the more exciting soft and velvety bitter finish.
The winery was founded in 2005 by winemaker István Balassa. The 17.6 hectare site is located in 11 vineyards in the wine region, in 45 parcels around Tokaj, Tarcal and Mád.
"The story started with a beer in the summer of 99...incredible as it may seem, I never thought I would become a winemaker. Then this incredible profession quickly took hold, permeated and then captivated me. A winemaker's job is problem solving, which surrounds the creative process of making. The most important task is to preserve as best as possible the quality that is hidden in the grapes at the moment of harvest. Because from that point on, every step changes the experience, and if the winemaker is excellent, he or she can give that experience back to the consumer in a very profound way."
